Great question, Logan! The Thule Outset Hitch-Mounted Tent # TH34FR39XB has a waterproof PVC-coated polyester shell and aluminum frame, so it's built to take on the elements. The floor is durable and insulated so you’re not sleeping directly on cold ground, and the aluminum poles are pretty stout for high-wind conditions.
What's really neat is that Thule tests their products to the limit, including this one, in their Thule Test Center. As you can see in the attached image, they put it through rain and wind tests, along with extreme temperatures, so you won't have to worry about testing it yourself in the wild.
