Replacement Hub for a Pop Up Camper w/ a 5 on 4-1/2" Lug Pattern

Updated 04/06/2026 | Published 06/11/2025

Question:

Hello, I just recently acquired a 93’ Viking sp230. I was trying to add clearance since it sits soo low. I was going with larger Wheels/Tires to start but it has a 4x lug pattern. What info do I need to find the right 5x4.5? Lug hub? I believe it’s a 2k axle? axle doesn’t really it goes horizontal. Thank you so much!

Hey Anthony congrats on your new popup! You are going to need to pull one of your hubs and look at the bearing number on the face of the inner and the outer bearing. If there are no numbers, then you will need to measure the axle spindle with a digital caliper like # PTW80157 in a couple locations. I've attached an article and a photo to help.

If you can get back to me with either part numbers or the measurements you get off of C an D on the diagram, I'll be happy to find you a hub with a 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern. You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Another option to get some height for your trailer is to lift it. Most of those pop-up campers have torsion axles. If you can measure where your axle attaches to the frame and tell me the distance from the center of the mounting bolt hole to the center of the other mounting bolt I'll be happy to find you the right lifting block.

Hey Anthony, did you have a chance to check the bearing numbers or measure the axle spindle with a caliper? I'm eager to help you find the right hub or lifting block for your popup camper!

@JerredH Hi Jared, thank you so much for the helpful reply. I was finally able to get back to this project… The #s on the bearings were L44649 both outer and inner. Hopefully those are the numbers you need to link me to the correct 5x lug hub? There’s about 4.5” of clearance around the entire tire (12” wheel now) so it should fit up to a 14” wheel/tire. It does sit on a torsion axel, mounted to the frame (the two bolts are 8.25” on center). Thank you again!

@AnthonyS You're welcome! Thanks for that information! I'm happy to hear back from you it's been a few months. The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles item # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K is what you'll need to swap your hubs out with ones that have a 5 on 4-1/2" lug nut pattern. We also have the item # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K if you need a braking hub. As far as lifting blocks go, the Torflex Lift Kit item # K71-707-01 is going to work with #10 torsion axles that have 8" on center bolt hole spacing. I do not have one or know of one with a 8.25” on center spacing.

@JerredH Hello, do you have any suggestion on how to get the dust Cap on? I ordered the above Hub kit and it assembles perfectly but I cannot get the cap to sit. I tried a mallet with wood and with a driver tool and it will not go in. The cotter pin is not in the way. Thank you for any suggestions
