Will Air Bag Kit Work With RoadActive Suspension Kit On 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500?
Updated 03/30/2026 | Published 05/08/2025 >
Question:
I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 Z71 off-road. I have the rode active suspension kit from you guys. The heavy duty. Its still squats way too much with my 31 ft camper on it. I was thinking about going the Firestone air suspension kit on it. Will that still work with my road active suspension or do I have to remove that and shelve it? Or is there one that I can use in conjunction with this?

Hello Jeff, thanks for reaching out. Air Bags like the Firestone # F2430 would be fine to use along with the RoadActive suspension kit. The two kits will both fit without any interference from the other since the air bags install inboard of the leaf spring pack. The air bags will allow you to take care of any/all sagging.
Just keep in mind the air bag kit will not be compatible with an in-bed gooseneck or 5th wheel hitch, so that would be the only exclusion.
Take a look at the install video I linked below.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hello Jesse M. Can you clarify your comment from above: "Just keep in mind the air bag kit will not be compatible with an in-bed gooseneck or 5th wheel hitch, so that would be the only exclusion." I just had the Ride Rite bags installed on my 2024 Chevy 2500HD and I also have the B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch also installed. Secondary question: I have seen some reports that the Roadactive suspension system can be used in conjunction with the Ride Rite bags. Can you confirm or deny and explain the reasoning behind either, please?

Hey Jeff, did the Firestone air suspension kit help with the squatting issue on your Silverado? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others considering a similar setup.
