What is the Weight Capacity for the Replacement Crank Extension for Lippert Spare Tire Winch?

Updated 05/12/2025 | Published 05/05/2025

Question:

Hi guys, this is in regards to product number . Will this work with my 8 lug trailer spare tire/rim? The pilot hole is ~5 and it probably weighs 80-90 pounds. I couldnt find any weight rating on Lipperts site or yours.

Hello John,

There isn’t a specific weight rating listed for the Replacement Crank Extension for Lippert Spare Tire Winch Assemblies - 35-1/2" # LC1315411. However, most Lippert spare tire winches are rated to handle 100 lbs or more, which is more than sufficient for your 8-lug spare weighing approximately 80–90 lbs.

If you're using the Lippert RV Spare Tire Mount with Winch - 71" Overall Width # LC159041, this crank extension will work perfectly.

Are you planning to use this crank extension with a non-Lippert spare tire carrier? If so, please let me know the make and model, and I’d be happy to look up the specs so I can compare them to the Lippert.

@JohnS Sorry about that, the Lippert Spare Tire Winch with Offset Cable # LC159056 has a weight capacity of 150 pounds, so it will work great for your 80-90 pound tire.

@KateF Thanks. Can you recommend a crank handle for this unit? It looks like the male end on this unit is just round with a hole for a pin, and the handles/extensions listed under "related parts" don't seem to mate up with this product. I just need something ~18" or so long.

@JohnS The correct crank extension is the Replacement Crank Extension for Lippert Spare Tire Winch Assemblies - 35-1/2" # LC1315411. On the product page for the Lippert Spare Tire Winch with Offset Cable # LC159056 it is listed as, "Upgrade Ready: Compatible with LC1315411 crank for smooth tire access." You would need to put the extension in the winch, then also use the Replacement Crank Handle for Lippert Manual Scissor Jack # LC285324. I attached a video that Ryan put together showing how they work together.
