Question:

I have a travel trailer with st205r14 tires and wheels and want to upgrade to a st225r15 t/w. The axles are wider than normal and have plenty of clearance. Is that a possibility?

Hello Ronnie,

Yes, you can likely upgrade from ST205/75R14 to ST225/75R15 tires and wheels, especially since you mentioned your trailer has wider axles and plenty of clearance. The ST205/75R14 tire is about 26.1 inches tall and 8.1 inches wide, while the ST225/75R15 tire is about 28.3 inches tall and 8.9 inches wide. That means the new tire is about 2.2 inches taller and 0.8 inches wider, so you'll need at least 2–3 inches of space above the tire and 1–2 inches of space on the sides to make sure nothing rubs when you're driving.

The Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM32468 would be a great option if you find that you have the clearance.

Hey Ronnie, Did you have a chance to check the clearance on your trailer for the new tires and wheels? I'd love to know how it worked out for you, as it could give others confidence when upgrading their tires.
