Do you Have Smaller Wheels and Tires for My Teardrop Camper so I can Easily Store in Garage?

Updated 04/08/2025 | Published 04/05/2025

Question:

Hello Trailer, I need your input. I own a tear trailer that is presenting stored in my garage. The camper has large off-road 15 wheels. To get the camper in the garage I had to deflate the tires and remove the roof rack to get it in the 84 opening. It quit an ordeal! I want to try putting tiny wheels on the axles to roll the camper out of the garage, and then put the bigger wheels back on. Do you have any thoughts of available parts.

Hello Joe,

That definitely sounds like a hassle! We can absolutely help you out with some wheels and tires to make getting your trailer into the garage a bit easier. Can you let me know your current tire size and bolt pattern?

For example, if you’ve got a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, the Kenda Karrier KR53 ST175/80R13 Radial Tire with 13" Silver Mod Wheel # KE35EV could be a great fit. When inflated, it measures about 23.8" in diameter and has a weight rating of 1,360 lbs at 50 psi, so with two tires, you’re good for 2,720 lbs total. I checked some specs on teardrop campers, and the heaviest ones usually top out around 2,500 lbs, so this combo should work just fine. I picked this one because it’s one of the most cost-effective options in that size.

Do you think that size could work for your setup? If not, just let me know the weight of your trailer (and confirm the bolt pattern) and I’ll see if we have an even smaller option that’ll do the job.

Hi Kate, The wheels are 6 lug at 5.5 . The tires on the camper are 235/75 15. I only need to move the camper out of the garage, but because of the opening height, I need to temporarily lower the camper. I will not be driving on the road with the tiny wheels because I have off-road tires.

@TinyW Hey Tiny AKA Joe, with your bolt pattern being 6 on 5 1/2" the best option we would have is the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" White Vesper Spoke Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - LRD # TA23MR. Your 235/75 15 should be 28.88", the 205/75R15 is 27.11" giving you a little over an inch on extra clearance. Not much, I know. There might be someone out there with a smaller wheel for a 6 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern. Another solution would be to make your garage bigger. We just extended our garage further last summer so it's ready for a bigger bass boat when we are ready to pull the trigger. I am sorry we do not have a better solution for you.

@KateF I appreciate your prompt response. I wish I could push the opening up, and likely should have went building the garage. The information that you provided was helpful. On another note, I messed up responding to your first message by filling in the name and email reply cells. I am not Tiny W. just Joe works.

@Joe Got it Joe. It wouldn't hurt to maybe reach out to a local fabricator, I am sure they would be able to come up with something. I am sure they will charge a pretty penny, but it would be worth the chat.
