Recommended Furrion Chill Cube AC In Black

Updated 04/05/2025 | Published 04/02/2025

Question:

Ive been waiting patiently for the Furrion Chill Cube 18k air conditioner to be available in the market. Now, Im trying to determine which specific model number and accessories I need. Info is slow to come available as it isnt even on Furrions website yet. But you, Amazon, and a few others have it. However, Im even more confused as your packages not only dont look similar, they lack detail info and Amazon appears cheaper than eTrailer which never happens. I have a Keystone 5th Wheel with one 23 year old ducted Dometic unit. One thermostat controls both AC and Furnace. I intent to split furnace to its own individual thermostat. The existing thermostat is in need of replacement as well. I want a black 18k unit to replace my existing one and use my ducts. Assume everything to be replaced and connected to the existing ducts. What covers do I need inside and which unit/model number AC unit? Remote? Wall thermostat? Or both? What about the duct efficiency kits people sell? I understand that the heat strips for the 15k units fit? Which heat strips do I want? Please point out what I need to buy! Thanks! Im in Las Vegas and temps are supposed to hit the nineties in a week.

Hey Daryl, I believe what you're looking for is the Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat # FR49TD. This is an 18k unit, in black, that is designed to work with ducted setups.

This unit also comes with a wall mounted thermostat that lets you change the fan speed and mode. These units also come with the new "Follow Me" feature which adjusts the temperature based on the remote's location in your RV.

If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know! Stay cool out there!

So that helps a little bit. The thermostat and remote are compatible to work together. However, I cannot see a benefit to nor why I would want the oscillating air distribution box with my unit when I have ducts. My 5th wheel is 26.5 feet and divided into 3 sections. If the oscillating vent is engaged then the ducts will not be efficient. If the ducts are engaged alone, no reason for the distribution box. MOVING PARTS = More to go wrong. Also, more unnecessary expense. Using the distribution box, the bedroom portion of my 5th wheel will not get adequate air flow. There would be hot and cold spots. And in Vegas those can be extreme. And why is delivery a whole month out?

@DarylD Hey Daryl, oscillating fans move from side to side which helps distribute air more evenly throughout the trailer. So supposedly this is going help in preventing hot spots and make sure that cool air reaches different parts of the trailer. This is what Furrion explained to us, and I personally don't have any experience with these units so I can't say for sure how well or not so well that works. As far as the delivery times go, I don't have a real answer for you since I don't actually deal with shipping or order processing, so you'd have to call into our customer service line and they should be able to explain what's going on with that.
