Is It Normal for Trailer Hitch be Slightly Bent Prior to Install

Question:
I purchased a e98905 for a 2019 tacoma for xmas present. Because of weather related availability to install it wasn't done till yesterday 3/31/2025. garage said it was a wrong fit by 1/2'' -3/4'', could it be the wrong one? is this a common problem

Hey Steve, unfortunately it's not an uncommon problem for the hitch to get slightly bent in shipping which creates the issue you described with the bolt holes not lining up properly. Hitches are heavy and hard to ship/package so unfortunately things end up happening to them in transit that allows them to end up getting bent. It's perfectly safe to bend them back though. As long as metal doesn't end up creasing or paints flakes off it's totally fine.
Some people will use an open stairwell to bend them back or a jack.
