Replacement Trailer Hub/Drum for Dexter 8-257

Updated 03/12/2025 | Published 03/08/2025

Question:

Hi I am in the need of some axel hubs for a camper. I found out they are Dexter 8-257 judging by the markings on the hub. But there is another number that looks like 810 or 018 stamp on the hub as well. This is for a 1997 Coleman Seapine with to my knowledge electric brakes. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction of what hub to purchase from your site and I will gladly send photos of my current hub for confirmation if needed. Thank you!

Hey Nolan, Dexter still makes the 8-257 hub like with the part # 8-257-5UC3-EZ that you referenced. This is a 2,000 lb axle hub/drum with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Are your brake assemblies in good shape still?

I would have to check once I get the camper in the air, is there a brake set you recommend in case I need to buy some? Thanks Jameson.

@Nolan Yeah, the part # AKEBRK-2 would be correct brake set for left and right assemblies. Generally it's best to replace assemblies in pairs to get even braking on both sides.
