Question:
I have a Dexter axle with serial 134153233, other info I see includes Cap 4400 lbs, mod D44 SLR 13.0 excluding rims wheels tires. I need to replace one of the leaf springs, can you tell which part is necessary?

Hello Doug,
Great question, and I am happy to make sure we get you into the right leaf spring. Since there is not a real standard for putting trailers together I am going to need a measurement from you. I need you to measure the Leaf Spring as unloaded as possible from eye to eye (please see attached image). Once I get that measurement from you I can recommend the right spring.
For example, if your measurement is close to 25 1/4" then you will need the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,400-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # DX95CR. The reason I say close to is because your measurement is going to be over that, most likely about a 1" give or take, that is because they do stretch out over time. I am really hoping that this is close to the measurement that you get because this is the only 4,400 pound spring we carry. If your measurement is nowhere near, please let me know so I can try to get one added to our site that will suit your needs.
It is recommended that you change both sides for even wear on the trailer. It is also recommended that you change the U-bolt kit as well as they do stretch over time which is going to require another measurement (please refer to image) as the 4,400 pound axle is not so common, and I do not have a database to look up the serial number on your axle. If you have a 3" tube you will want the # CE23003, and for a 2 3/8" # CE23002.
Let me know the measurement you come up with. What kind of trailer is this on?

Hey Doug, were you able to get that eye-to-eye measurement on your leaf spring? Once you have it, we can confirm if the 25-1/4" spring is the right match for your Dexter axle. Let me know what you find—I’m here if you need a hand narrowing it down.
