Can Trailer Tire Load Range C be Replaced with a Load Range D

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/04/2025

Question:

Hello. I am looking at a set of your Kenda radial tires for my single axle boat trailer. The trailer is recommended for a load c tire. Would there be any harm to get a load D tire. Occasionally I do have more gear for camping trips loaded in the boat. I was just thinking about the more air pressure and tire wear when not loaded down. I currently have 175/80/13

Hey Justin, you can definitely go to a Load Range D tire in place of a C and the only real "down side" is that you would have to put more pair pressure in the tire. It will give you more weight capacity if ever needed without any real draw back. There might be a small price difference too though. For that we have the part # KE78KV.

Hey Justin, how did the Load Range D Kenda tires work out on your boat trailer? Did you notice any change in how they handled when you had extra camping gear loaded? Your update could make it easier for others deciding between load ranges.
