Can a Light Trailer Roof be Reinforced to Install AC Unit on Top?
Updated 03/05/2025 | Published 02/28/2025 >
Question:
Hello, I just purchased your low profile 13.5 K to install on my Canadian made pro light trailer. The roof is only 1 3/8 inch thick. Is it OK if I build up a frame, including the back feet of the unit just wondering what is the best way to do this?

Hey Nick, thanks for reaching out!
You'll definitely want to bulk up your roof in order to better support the Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner # ASA99YR. We haven't done a project exactly like this, but we did have to reinforce a Transit for a roof vent and I'm linking that video to this page for your reference. You should be able to do something similar, but AC units are heavier, so you'll want to make sure it is very secure.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the great insightJ JON, I reinforced it and it's nice and solid now I have one more question. I hooked up the Air Distribution Box w/ Wall-Mounted Thermostat for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners - White Part Number: ACRG15 WHICH WENT FAIRLY EASY. WHEN I PRESS THE THERMOSTAT BUTTON DOWN FOR THREE SECONDS NOTHING HAPPENS. I'VE TRACED BACK AND I HAVE 120 V GOING INTO THE UNIT. THE 12 V IS GOING INTO THE UNIT AND I HAVE 12 V AT THE THERMOSTAT ITSELF AND YET I CAN'T GET THE THERMOSTAT TO LIGHT UP. ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS.
