Hey Brad! When you say upright I'm assuming you mean sitting up on a platform rack. If that is correct, I recommend the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y88TD. This bike rack has a weight capacity of 70 lbs per bike on the inner two positions and 40 lbs per bike on the outer two positions. Since you don't have e-bikes that should be plenty. It can also accommodate tires up to 5" wide.
To make loading and unloading easy you can add the Loading Ramp for Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y39VR. The rack tilts away for rear cargo access and folds when not in use. It also comes with locks to keep everything secure. There is an included anti-rattle but with a 4-bike rack you may want to add the # e38FV to really keep any movement down with such a large rack plus bikes.
The rack is also available in gray # Y75AR if you prefer it over the black. It is worth noting that the rack itself is pretty hefty at 108 lbs so it is probably a two person job putting it on and taking it off the vehicle. I did base this on it being easy for your wife to put the bikes on. If the concern is the actual bike rack being easy to put on then I recommend the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # SA4414B instead. This bike rack is incredibly light at 53 lbs making it easy to manage compared to other 4-bike options.
