Can I Install a Yakima SkinnyWarrior on My Van with My Solar Panels and 23" of Room?

Question:
Hi I am considering the Yakima Skinny Warrior 23” wide on my van, but with my solar panel, it would only have 18” to attach to the cross bars and another 5” that would project out along the side. Is 18” enough space to attach the two clamps on the 23” wide rack? Is it ok to hang out 5”? Is this going to work if we carry lighter weight cargo? We do lots of rough sandy, rocky, and washboard roads. Thanks

Hello Russ,
Thank you for the picture, it is always so helpful to be able to actually see the set-up. Yes, you will be able to use the Yakima SkinnyWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket - Steel - 58" long # Y07014 or # Y07014-16 for 74" long with your current set-up just as long as you have the space to attach the brackets to the bars (please refer to diagram I attached), it will be ok going a few inches over the edge. You might need to barely overlap the silver lining of the solar panel.
If you need a net to go over the Stretch Net for Yakima SkinnyWarrior Roof Cargo Basket - 55" Long x 21" Wide # Y07018 is a great choice. If you are putting something in the basket with some height the Benton HotMesh Cargo Net for 24x60 Cargo Carriers # B32FR would be a little more secure.
What do you plan on putting up there? My curiosity gets the best of me =)
