Question:
What can be the maximum distance from the top of the door threshold to the top of the mounting brackets be in order for the steps to still work for the 21-1/2inch to 27-1/2inch Entry Height? In other words, the bottom of my door hangs down further than most trailers and if still needs to clear the brackets.

Hey Karl! Steps like the MORryde Quick Connect RV Steps # MR85HR fit based on entry height. What is your measurement? There isn't a minimum distance from the top of the threshold per se but, if you were already at 21-1/2" and you have to mount the steps several inches lower to clear the door you may need to consider different steps.
If you're somewhere in the middle or at the high end with your measurement I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing you might run into is having to take a high step off the top if the steps aren't mounted directly below the threshold. If it doesn't seem like that would work with your setup and I'm misunderstanding feel free to send me an email with a picture of your setup and I'll take a look.
