Why do you have to break down rods over 8 feet on a truck rack real truck elevate rack on Toyota tundra

Hey George, this is a great question but if you consider how long the typical vehicle roof is and where the rear crossbar is located that if you put 8 foot rods at that point it would hang really far forward and would potentially cause issues and could hit windshield etc.
