Can Brackets of Roadmaster Comfort Ride Attach to Round Tube

Updated 02/03/2025 | Published 01/31/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a question about the Comfort Ride RoadMaster Suspension system. I have a 2023 Jayco North Point 310rlts that I would like to install it on, but the problem is or maybe not. The part 10 which is the frame bracket, now my underneath on where it would get attached to is a metal 2 tube, so all I have to drill for that number 10 frame bracket is or will be about 1 3/4 surface. My question is will I be able to attack that bracket on that metal hollow tube, which I think that it dont give much room to drill those four self-tapping screws, thank you for your reply, oh I would need the Part number 2460.

Hey George, so you would want to have some square brackets welded to your round tube so that the number 10 bracket of the Roadmaster Comfort ride part # RM-2460 can attach properly. If it attaches to a round tube it would not hold up and would eventually get stressed and break off. Do you know anyone with a welder?

Okay that is what I thought but what if I put a aluminum square inside so the screws will go into also the steel square tube and the piece of aluminum both? I can push the aluminum piece inside, because both ends of the steel tube is hollow all the way through, I don't have anyone at this time that would be able to weld ka piece of steel to it, but if I push a piece of aluminum in there will that work, or will I just have to get another piece of steel to weld to what's there now. Thank you again for your reply.

@George I don't think that would work but I may not be fully understanding what it is that you are saying. This kit wasn't designed to install with aluminum like that so I don't believe that would be the way to go.

@JamesonC And you probably right, but you know that some manufacturers build the suspension on the frame but this long 1/4 inch thick steel at the length of the where all the suspension get attached to the frame, were the hollow 2x2 steel tube is hollow all the way through and I'm thinking that to attach the number 10 bracket I can push a piece of solid 1-3/4" x 1-3/4 x 12" inside so the 4 screws would go into the 1/4 steel along with the 1-3/4" aluminum inside, I know it's hard unless you can see what I'm talking about.

@George Are you talking about like a flat plate on the inside of the tube that the bracket would attach to? If so, that wouldn't be recommended. It needs something flat to attach to so that it wouldn't be stressed into flexing either direction around the round pipe.
