What are the Cam Buckles and Grommets Made From on the Gladiator Waterproof Cargo Net?

Hello John,

I apologize for the delay in the answer, but I was waiting to hear back from the manufacturer. Both the cam buckles and grommets are made from steel on the Gladiator Waterproof Cargo Net w/ Integrated Tarp - Cam Buckle Tie-Downs - 6' 9" x 8' # GC57FR.

What are you looing to use the tarp for?

Thank you Kate for your reply. Just as an FYI, when I look to purchase a waterproof item it means that I expect it to be exposed to water. Therefore, in my opinion, I would expect the entire product to be made with waterproof materials. So it doesn't make sense to have a waterproof tarp but have cam buckles and grommets that are steel that rusts. I would expect the cam buckles and grommets to be either stainless steel or at least rust resistant zinc coated or galvanized. I have already experienced tarps that the grommets end up rusting. And when a cam buckle rusts then it will not function properly to hold its grip. I have seen cargo straps with stainless steel cam buckles, so I was surprised that those with this tarp were not. @John I agree with you John. Honestly I was kind of shocked when I found out that it was just steel. Stainless, zinc, or galvanized was the answer I was expecting. I am sorry I didn't have better answer for you, I was just as shocked as you were. I wish I had a better cargo net to offer, but it looks like they will all be the same. Hopefully that will change in the near future. I hope you have a great rest of the week!
