Hey there Tom,

Sorry it took a bit to get that measurement, we currently do not have stock but have some on the way so I had to reach out to our friends at Curt. The measurement is 3.688". I attached an image to ensure that we got the right measurement for you.

What are you using it for that you need that measurement?

That is interesting. Most 2 5/16 trailer balls I have measured for standard ones have been about 3 1/8 plus or minus 1/8 in height. It looks like the true extra rise of this trailer ball is closer to a half inch versus a standard ball. It looks like that in the picture as well. . I will take a look at the 2 inch rise ball in the similar line tothis and see if there’s a measurement over there . if not, it would be great to have that answer. I am trying to get my hitch height just right for a deck over snowmobile trailer, which has a fairly high hitch height and matching that up with the ball mount that is long enough so that I can open the tailgate on the truck. I am Looking at the Draw-tite 4284 and 4285 ball mounts in the rise position.

@TomS Hey Tom, I just ran out to the warehouse and the measurement on the # C40087 from the top to the base of (just like the measurement before) is 5 3/4". Sounds like you are on a mission and to get this precise, if you need me to measure anything else just say the word. If you want to, you can measure on level ground from the ground to the bottom of the coupler, and then on the truck end from the ground to the inner top of the receiver to find out was rise you will need with your normal 2 5/16" ball. If you want to get me those measure measurements and how far you want to extend out, I am happy to work my magic on what you need.

@KateF With a spread tandem axle trailer I think it is important to get the trailer very level to load both axles the same.

@TomS I don't blame you. Especially with a snowmobile trailer, a lot of expensive cargo in there. If I can get you any other measurements just say the word!
