Will this Adaptor work with a recessed gooseneck hitch ball as on a CM Flatbed?

The Ranch Hitch Universal 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3139 can potentially work with a recessed gooseneck ball on a flat bed truck, but it's going to depend on just how much the ball is recessed and how much space you have around the ball.

You will first need to make sure that there is enough space around the recessed ball for the coupler to properly grip it. The Ranch Hitch requires a circular area of at least 5-5/8" around the ball for clearance.

Then it's just a matter of ensuring that the ball isn't too far recessed from the top of the bed. From the bottom of the coupler to the horizontal arm on the Ranch Hitch there is a distance of 4-3/4" (see attached image). If your gooseneck ball is is recessed more than this height then it won't be compatible.

If the gooseneck ball sits too low then your best option will be something like the Demco Recon # DM8550046, which is designed to attached to a recessed ball to provide you with a 5th wheel hitch to connect to the trailer. It features a 21,000 pound towing weight capacity and is made right here in the USA.
