Question:

We are building mobile service trucks on a Chevrolet 5500/6500 chassis. We have steel and fiberglass bodies with crane, compressors, and loaded sidepack compartments. Rear weight is close to 11,750 and front weight is close to 5,800 lbs. We are getting a lot of bounce on the front and slide steering from the light front end. What product do you suggest to improve this?

Hi Travis; I'm assuming these are 2024 models since you were looking at the 2024 F-550. The best thing I can offer is the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TURMDE. With all that weight in the back I'm sure there is a lot less weight on the front axle which is a big part of your problem. These are going to give you additional support in the rear to level the trucks and smooth out the ride. They have a massive 15,000 lb capacity so they can handle that rear weight on your service trucks.

The shock absorption will also help with that bounce in the front since the rear won't hit has hard on bumps and rough roads. Since they work independently they help with body roll as well which will be useful with that heavy equipment in the back. You might also benefit from the # THSR001 in the front but I would try the rear first and see if that is enough.

Hey Travis, how did things go after adding the Timbren rear suspension system to your service trucks? Did it help cut down the front-end bounce and improve steering stability? Your results could really help others setting up similar heavy-duty builds.
