Features to know about

Stay Level and in Control: 2,800-lb Front Suspension Support

A heavy load up front can make steering and braking feel off, especially when the nose of the vehicle starts to sag. These SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs add up to 2,800 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They help your factory suspension handle extra weight, absorb bumps and shocks, and minimize sway so your steering feels confident and your headlights stay aimed where they should.

Smooth Ride on Every Trip: Progressive Load Control

Driving unloaded or carrying a full front-end load both feel right with these springs. Their progressive design means they compress easily with lighter loads for a softer ride, then stiffen as weight increases for extra support. This smooth transition keeps things comfortable day to day and stable when you’re hauling heavy gear or equipment.

Comparison image showing SumoSprings Solo Helper Springs installed on a vehicle’s front axle, with one spring uncompressed and the other compressed under load to illustrate suspension performance.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

Crosswinds, passing semis, or sharp turns can push one side of a vehicle harder than the other. Each SumoSpring works independently to balance side-to-side movement, reducing body roll and sway. The result is a planted, more stable feel whether you’re running through highway gusts or pulling into an uneven driveway.

Built for Real-World Conditions: Durable Microcellular Urethane

These springs are made from high-density microcellular urethane that resists abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays. They hold up in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F and compress vertically with minimal side expansion so nearby components stay protected. With no air lines or pressure to maintain, the setup is completely maintenance-free.

Simple Install That Fits Right the First Time: No Drilling Required

Designed as a custom fit for your front suspension, these jounce-style helper springs go on easily without drilling. Just bolt them into place and they’re ready to work—no airlines, compressors, or ongoing adjustments needed. You get lasting front-end support with a straightforward install that’s right at home in any DIY setup.

Video Transcript for Checking Out the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs-SS52FR

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs. These are going to help improve your driver control and comfort by upgrading the front suspension for your 2020 and newer Chevrolet Silverado 4500, 5500 and 6500 with either the 2 wheel drive or the 4 wheel drive. This is going to help support heavy front loads, like your snow plows, cargo carriers with dirt bikes or generators, or really just about anything that could be adding extra weight to the front of your Silverado. This is going to help support that weight to help keep your Silverado level. This will also help to absorb bumps and shocks and minimize your sway.

So when you hear a front suspension help, that you're often times thinking about airbags. These are obviously not airbags. These are micro-cellular urethane. So unlike your airbags, these are gonna be maintenance free. You're not gonna have to worry about monitoring your air pressure and adjusting your, your air pressure.

These are kind of just a set it and forget it, once you get them installed. They are going to have a progressive load control. So the springs will compress according to the weight of your cargo. So for your lighter loads, it's gonna compress easily at first for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. And then the heavier loads, it's going to compress by as much as 80% to help support that heavier load.

This does have a weight capacity of 2,800 pounds. When you hear that, it's oftentimes easy to think that that's going to increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity by 2,800 pounds and that's not the case. There's no suspension system out there, a suspension helper system out there that's going to increase your load carrying capacity, just because your suspension is just one component in your truck's overall makeup. So think of it less like a second set of hands that's helping you lift more weight. Think of it more like a back brace that's there to just kind of help support the suspension system that's already there.

Just kind of take some of that burden off of it, make sure that it's taking less wear over the long run, so that it'll last longer for you. Now, these are a going to be very easy to get installed. It's a no drill installation. So again, unlike your airbags, where you have to run tubing and it's pretty complex, this is a very simple process. They do include instructions with graphics there, to walk you through every step of the installation process. So very easy to do. Definitely something you can do on your own in your garage over the weekend or something like that. These do work independently from each other. So we do have the 2 springs, one for each side and that's going to help compensate for your off center loads and to help reduce your body roll during sharp turns. Because these do have a mineral, minimal lateral expansion, the springs are going to expand and compress vertically instead of out to the sides. So they aren't going to be damaged when operating in tight spaces. So again, another benefit over some of your other airbags, which tend to kind of pancake out that can cause damage. These are going to be a nice vertical option for you. You are gonna get these 2 jounce style springs and all the necessary hardware that you're gonna need to get it installed. These springs are extremely durable. They're gonna work in temperatures from negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. They're gonna resist damage caused by oils, road salts and UV rays. They are made here in the USA. So you can trust they're made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US. And they do come with a limited lifetime warranty. So if you we're to have any problems with them, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. We're always happy to work with our customers to make sure you're getting good quality products and having a good experience. So overall, I think these are gonna be a great option to help support your suspension system in the front of your Silverado. The one downside to these over your airbags, with the airbags, you do have a little bit more adjustability, so you can add more pressure to it. If you're wanting to give it a stiffer, firmer ride. With these, they're kind of just, like I said, set it and forget it. So you don't have that so much adjustability like you do with the airbags. So definitely for those of you who like having little maintenance, want to just put it in there and have that extra support without having to air up your bags. That's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

2,800-lb Capacity. Upgrade your vehicle's front suspension with these maintenance-free helper springs. Sturdy microcellular urethane springs cushion bumps and help support a heavy load to level your ride and minimize sway. No-drill installation.

by:

Definitely recommended suspension upgrade for c class Rv .
Works better combined with aftermarket front sway bar. Less side to side motion with going over bumps or curves

by:

In combination with the rear sumosprings and helwig sway bars, the jayhawk is has even less lean when cornering. Need to wait until spring to see if it lessens expansion joint bumps.

by:

Installation was a straightforward and easy. The SumoSprings made a huge difference in the handling of the RV. The large sway left to right from wind or passing semi trucks has been effectively eliminated make the RV much more comfortable to drive.

by:

These Sumo springs were a great upgrade. So easy to install, less than 20 minutes.

by:

I installed front and rear on our 2025 Thor Quantum KW29. Very easy install for the front, rear's were a bit more work but nothing too difficult. My wife primarily drives the RV, it is "hers" :). She immediately noticed the difference in ride quality, less side-to-side rock/roll and was very pleased. Therefore, I am pleased. I look forward to a couple thousand mile trip shortly - that will make/ brake the four stars vs. five.

by:

Ordering was easy and shipping was quick. Installation was Super easy, took longer to lift Motorhome and set Jack stands then to install The SumoSprings.
Ride was much smoother and body roll was much improved.

by:

Very easy to install. I have not put very many miles on Rv but have noticed that there is much less swaying when going over uneven driveways. After installing these and and safe t plus steering it drives a lot better.

by:

Installation in a 2022 Sierra 2500HD was easy, used large Channel locks to remove factory, new ones popped in by blocking them with wood wedge while vehicle was jacked up and releasing jack quickly so all weight would come down at once.
Only have aprox 100 miles on new Bump Stops but ride feels smoother as they are engaged at rest, unlike factory that engage on bumps. Need more miles to fully review.

by:

Springs are good, working well. My Tacoma is stock (no lift). With the front end jacked up and wheel/tires totally suspended I was not able to get the springs mounted. I had to cut off about 1/4 inch of threads to get them into position to screw then in. Once that was done everything was ok.

by:

Sumo Springs really helped with the bumps in the front of the 2019 Ford E350 Winnebago! Very happy with them. Super easy install even though a bit awkward to reach the spot.

by:

Very easy installation. Would be nice if they were about 2” longer to get contact sooner but they were a good replacement for the hollow stock bump stops.

by:

Super easy to install maybe 30 minutes for all 4
Fronts were done from above with wheel turned full right or left and load off that side with jack, rears jack to take off load only used large flat head screw drive to remove replace
improved side to side roll/sway ride is firmer went with the black capacity maybe yellow on rear if loads increase

by:

these look like the perfect thing for my tired old helper springs, I put SumoSprings on my rear axel of my Jeep a year ago and the have made that ride much better hoping for the same with these.

by:

Installed Sumo Springs on my 2019 Chevy 4500 motorhome, I was looking for ride improvement without breaking the bank. These days so many products are marketed well but never match the performance that was promised. That is not the case with Sumo Springs!!! I am very pleased with the ride improvement, sway is gone when transitioning from different levels of pavement and the shock of bumps is 50% better!! Installed myself on front and back in about 1 hour, front ended up about 3/8” higher after a couple days, got front end alignment done but didn’t need any adjustment. Finished a 400 mile road day today and my wife and I are very pleased. Excellent product!!

by:

I’ve made several purchases from eTrailer and have been satisfied every time! Recently bought front and rear Sumo helper springs. Installation was a breeze. They have helped reduce the side to side sway caused by wind, freeway traffic and rough roads. So far im very happy with them.

by:

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

by:

I have a Workhorse W22 chassis. I installed steering dampeners and HD sway bar to reduce the "loose" steering. After installing the SumoSprings Front Spring helpers on the front end, 90% of the looseness on the front end disappeared. It is now a pleasure to drive. Very little sway from passing trucks and cross winds. I will be installing a set on the rear this year.

Good product and great service from etr ailer

by:

Lower mounting bracket needs to be modified to fit properly.

by:

Product Works Great!

by:

Good product unfortunately it did not solve my ride issue but not at fault of the helper springs. Just bad engineering by GM. The helper springs were very easy to put on, less than an hour to put both front and rears on.
