4-Flat Wiring for a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport and Where to Mount the Converter to Keep Elements Away

Question:

Good morning. I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I am interested in installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Part Number: 118786 kit on my vehicle. I have one question if I may. Is it possible to secure the converter boxfoot inside of the driver’s side rear light housing? I am concerned about installing it on the outside of the vehicle and the exposure to road grime and external elements. Thank you for your assistance. I will wait to hear your thoughts / suggestions before ordering.

Hello Carlos,

Yes, you can most definitely secure the converter in the inside of the driver side rear light housing. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118786 will be a great fit for your 2021 Jeep Wrangler. I went through the reviews and I see that one of our customers did the same thing, I attached the picture of where he installed the converter. I would also recommend grabbing a Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144 for a clean looking install.

Kate F one follow up if I may... Thank you so much for the timely response. My ultimate goal is to install a 7 pin round plug as well and know that etrailer sells a flat four adapter to 7 pin to facilitate. My question is will I have to run a seperate hot wire from the battery to the 7 pin round receptical? Or will the hotwire from the battery to the 4 pin flat converter be enough to power the 7 pin round connector. Thanks, I hope that makes sense. Happy New Year.

@CarlosF The 4 flat wiring is a great place to start, you will need to run both power lines. They need the power source for different functions. For your 2021 Jeep Wrangler you will want to start with the # 118786, and then install the # etbc7 on top of that. I do not have an install video on a 2021, but I do have one on a 2013 for you to take a look at. Just so you can see what you are getting yourself into.
