Question:
Hello, I need a replacement hub assembly with bearings for my trailer. 2009 Carry-On 2,000 lbs. Replaces Dexter 8-259 242. 5 on 4 1/2. L44649 inner and outer bearings. The one I looked at AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K shows a stud length of 1 5/16 long - is that measurement from the flange to end of the stud assembled? Also, how do I determine if my trailer has a BTR spindle? Please confirm the AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K is the right replacement part. Thank you

Hi Jerome; the 1-5/16" measurement for the # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K wheel studs is from the flange to the end of the stud with it assembled. They're actually 2" long overall. You have a BTR spindle since you have # L44649 inner and outer bearings. If you had # L44643 bearings it would be a BT8 spindle. If you would rather have the same Dexter hub for a replacement the # 8-259-5UC1-EZ is also available.

Hi Robin, I wish you had replied sooner, I spoke to customer service and they told me the 1-5/16" measurement was the overall length of the stud. So, conflicing information. She found an alternative hub, but it was for wheels up to 12" and I have 14 1/2" wheels, so she said it won't work ( I don't know why). Therefore, I ordered the bearings and races, and replacement studs. Order #-. But I would have preferred to replace both hubs because one of the hubs has a stripped-out hole for the stub (had to drill out the stud) so I'll likely have problems with it in the future. The description on the etrailer site should give the definition of that measurement. The parts arrived today, so I'll see how it goes. Thanks
