Will Install of Brake Controller Cause Pedal Position Sensor with 2014 Chevy Silverado

Updated 12/16/2025 | Published 11/25/2024

Question:

I installed the controller on my brother inlaws 2014 Chev silverado 1500 ltz,Didnt feel like splicing wires so I had him purchase a harness as well. Several days late truck started setting a P2138 peddle position sensor error. He replaced gas peddle senso which didnt fix the issue. He took it to his tech at midas I Know dont ask he unplugged the brake controller and said that fixed it. As a retired tech I am having a hard time believing that. Any thoughts?

Hey Cliff, I can't see how the install of the P3 # 90195 would affect the pedal position sensor unless it was somehow damaged or bumped during the install process which seems odd. I would be interested to see if the problem stays away with the controller uninstalled and then if it comes back with it installed again.

Hey Cliff, did the issue stay gone after you unplugged the P3 brake controller from the Silverado? Knowing what happened next could really help others who run into the same sensor code.

@JamesonC The problem ended up being a bad wire harness connector to the gas pedal, cleaned and tightened connectors.
