Question:

Im installing my trailer brake controller on a 2007 Equinox but am not getting 12V power from the brake pedal switch. I understand it is just a pedal position sensor. Where do I connect to get the brake signal into the controller?

Your 2007 Chevy Equinox brake switch does not have the proper wiring with correct voltage for a brake controller so that signal has to be obtained at the BCU (body control module). The BCM should be located under the dash above where your left knee would be.

Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 if you need one to test the wires or pins. It could be connector 2, pin 30 or it could be position 11. One thing that seems to be constant on the vehicles affected is that the wire is usually white so you might want to start with those.

The same rules apply for the locations at the BCM: you need the one that only shows power with the brake pedal pressed and not at any other time.
