Question:

How does this slip over my hitch ball? Appears to be a nylon loop? I wonder how long that will hold up? I live where is it very hot. My neck lanyard for the string trimmer degraded from the heat in the shop. Jeff

Hi Jeff,

The Thetford Titan Tote Portable Waste Tank # TH84XE does use a strap to loop around the hitch ball to tow it to the dump site at your campground. There isn't specific testing done to see how well these straps hold up to extreme heat but the strap would likely not be taking that much abuse. While towing the tank you should really only be going about 5mph so you really shouldn't be putting much wear and tear on the strap, but a loose waste tank on the road definitely isn't ideal.

Thetford offers another version of this with four wheels and hard plastic handle to pull the tank or hook onto a ball mount and pull with your tow vehicle with part # TH34XE. This would likely be the better option for you to avoid have to replace a strap down the road due to wear and tear from the harsh climate you're in.
