What Digital Scale and Read a Tongue Weight Lower than 200 Pounds?

I just purchased an Aliner Scout Lite. Id like to be able to measure my tongue weight but all of the scales mechanical that Ive looked at wont show weights below 300 lbs. I anticipate my tongue weight being between 160 and 200 lbs so I need to be able to measure tongue weight in that range. Is this digital scale capable of accurately measuring tongue weights in that range? Do you have any less expensive mechanical scales that can accurately measure in this range? Thank you Joe

Congratulations on your new camper. Those Aliners are so cool.
Yes, the B&W Digital Tongue Weight Scale # BW34KR will work great for your 160 to 200 lb tongue weight. It measures in 5 lb increments, so you'll get a much better reading than with a mechanical scale.
We do have a more cost effective option, # BTBRV004, but it measures in 20 lb increments and has an accuracy of plus or minus 50 lbs. That's a pretty big difference for such a lightweight camper, so I would stick with the B&W digital scale.
Another option, if you haven't already switched over to an electric jack, is our etrailer Electric Trailer Jack # e43KV. It has a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale, so you can check your tongue weight right at the jack without needing a separate scale.
Where did you go for the first big trip in the new camper?

My trailer's tong weight range needs to be between 400Lb and 500Lb. This digital scale works perfect for this. I experimented with it's actual response to the weight load by redistributing the trailer's cargo inside to the back of the trailer, and then using a known calibrated weight and applying it directly onto the ball receptacle. It worked as expected ang gained the applied weight within it's +/- 5Lb accuracy increment. In some tests the accuracy dropped to 10Lb (2-increment). I figured that this was due to some deviation of verticality when the scale is set up. So, it is important to make sure that the scale is set perfectly vertical to measure tong weight load correctly, especially with lighter loads.

I've been using this scale for a while now and I love it. It measures from 0 to 4000 lbs in 5 lb increments. Don't waste your money on cheaper alternatives. Spend your money once and get something you can use for life.
