Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/08/2024

Question:

hp99zr convection microwave Why is the cut out width 22 7/16inch when the width of the microwave is 20 1/2? Is it to allow for some play while ing the unit into the cabinet? Thank you for your response.

Hey Dick,

Extra space for mounting and breathability for the unit itself is why the manufacturer lists the cutout hole needing to be 22-7/16" wide x 15-3/16" tall. That being said if your cutout hole is smaller but can still fit the # HP99ZR (20-1/2" wide x 14-3/4" tall) you don't need to cut the hole larger. The included trim ring is 24" W x 16-1/4" T externally and 20-3/4" W x 12" T internally (see diagram) so it would cover the gap between the cabinet and microwave.

Hey Dick, how did the fit of your High Pointe convection microwave turn out with that extra cutout space and trim ring? Knowing what worked might help others setting up the same unit.
