Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/08/2024

Question:

I have a 2025 Chevy 3500HD crew cab dually with diesel engine. The bed has the OEM puck system for my 5th wheel hitch. I want to add an air bag system to help with the ride. What system is best for my application. I tow a 2024 Paradigm 285FL.

Hello Jim, thanks for reaching out. For you I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2613. This kit is a direct fit for the 2025 Chevy 3500 Crew Cab Dually Diesel. The brackets are made to be compatible with the OEM puck system, so there will be no obstructions. The bags have a 5,000 lb capacity so more than enough for your 2024 Paradigm 285FL which has a 16,800 lb GVWR and max pin weight of 2,875 lbs.

I also recommend that you add an onboard compressor. You can use any air compressor to fill the bags, but adding one to the truck is a major convenience - especially if you plan to tow frequently. My favorite compressor system is the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System # AL74000EZ. This allows you to fill the air bags using the included remote, or via the air lift smartphone app. The app is great because it gives you real time towing info and diagnostics. Features you do not get with a standard compressor.

Hey Jim, how did the Firestone Ride-Rite air springs work out on your Chevy 3500 when towing your Paradigm 285FL? Did the ride feel smoother with the added support? Your feedback could really help others setting up a similar truck and trailer combo.

@Jesse Worked great once I was able to get them installed. Your support team helped getting around the passenger side shock bracket interference. I adjust the air based on which trailer I am towing, the Paradigm, the Yellowstone cargo or the flat bed.

@JimJ Glad to hear everything worked out and thanks for the follow-up. I’m happy our support team was able to help you work through the passenger-side shock bracket interference. Dialing in the air pressure based on which trailer you’re towing is exactly how those Ride-Rite bags are meant to be used. Thanks for sharing your experience, that kind of real-world feedback really helps others setting up similar rigs.
