Hey good question, John. The B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System # BW78FR can only be used on A-frame trailers. There is no adapter that allows it to work on a single pole style trailer tongue.
It is still possible to use a weight distribution hitch on a single pole style trailer tongue, but it has to be a standard WD hitch with spring bars. For example, the Blue Ox Pole Tongue Weight Distributing Hitch Adapter # BXW4023 can be attached to the straight tongue to give you the outward attachment points for a WD hitch. The # BXW4023 adapter is designed to be used with the Blue Ox Sway Pro WD hitch like part # BXW0750. This WD hitch is made for trailers with a tongue weight between 550 and 750 lbs, so if you can tell me the loaded tongue weight of your trailer I am happy to confirm what WD hitch will work for you.
