Question:
We have a 2024 2500 HD LT 4WD pulling a 5th wheel trailer occasionally and we’re 300 lbs under our hitch weight capacity using CAT scales. Tried a set of Timbren SES and disappointed in the resulting harsh ride when loaded. Do you feel that the Sumo SSR-207-47 would provide better results to simply help level the truck and enhance stability? Also considering the Air Lift AL 57341 on your website. Since we don’t go offroad I don’t see the need for the added expense of the internal jounce bumpers of the AL 88341 unless you suggest otherwise. Thank you and look forward to your expert feedback.

Hi Brian,
Yeah, I'm honestly not surprised you didn't like the Timbrens; they do their job well but are pretty notorious for their harsh ride. And while the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-207-47 won't be quite as stiff as the Timbrens, compressing more they are still going to give you a harsher ride. So if you really want to avoid that, then definitely go with the air bags:
- Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57341
You definitely don't need the springs with the internal jounce bumpers, the standard air bags will be more than enough support. The best part really is going to be the ability to customize the amount of air pressure you need in the bags, so you can tinker until you get the perfect amount for your ride.
The biggest drawback with air bags is that they do require maintenance, although that can be remedied with a compressor system. It's an added expense, but super convenient as you can just press a button and get the exact psi you need. So it's something I do recommend considering if you decide to go with air bags, and a wireless option is easiest, the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System # AL74000EZ.

Hey Brian, how did things turn out with the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 on your truck? Did the adjustable air pressure give you the smoother ride you were hoping for when towing your 5th wheel? Your update could make it easier for others comparing air bags and helper springs.
