Question:
Is the logic box needed if the lightbar is going to be used like towing lights? I would like to mount this on my bicycle rack. The bikes impede my taillights. I’d like to adhere this light to my bike rack and then connect it to my jeep or trailer with a 5 pin flat connector. The wiring and installing a 5pin on my trailer is easy for me, but I don’t know how critical that box is if I’m going to plug my bike rack up like it’s a trailer. The box is big and without it I can do a very clean install. I read somewhere in the already submitted questions the wires from the LED array to the box are not color coded, but I can easy test the leads to determine the ground, running light, L, R and reverse circuits. Is the box critical for the function of the light array?

Hey Jack,
The control module for the Putco Red Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar # P92010-60 would be required for it to properly function. This light is designed connect to your trailer wiring harness with either the included 4-pole connector or using one of Putco's factory 7-way wire harness tee's. It looks like the bottom rail of your bike rack is pretty open so you mount the light bar facing out and the box on the other side of the rail facing in to try and hide it.
We also offer the Curt Auxiliary LED Indicator Lights # C53201 that might be a better fit for what you're wanting. These are smaller and only have a the wires running to a 4-pole connector so it's going to be much easier to hide for a cleaner look. The backing is 3M tape so it's super easy to install in just a few minutes.
I would also check your bike rack's specifications to ensure that it's rated for use on the back of a trailer. The suspension for a trailer is much harsher and will typically "wag" the bike rack around rough enough that it can end up wearing down and breaking the rack. On the bike racks we offer we have a little diagram for each one showing what kind of vehicles the manufacturer has rated it for.
