What Might Cause Trailer Wheels to Point Different Directions When Backing Up
Updated 08/28/2024 | Published 08/27/2024 >
Question:
Ive owned my 2013 Redwood fifth wheel since it was new. I love the trailer, but it is the worst trailer Ive ever backed up. The axles seem to take a set and you can see the wheels pointing in different directions. The trailer will not recover and straighten itself out, you have to stop and pull up a bit to get the wheels straight and back up some more, repeat a few times to back into a tight rv spot. Will the MoRyde help with this situation? The trailer has the CRE 3000 system installed with wet bolts.

Hey Mike, that is pretty crazy to hear! If your axles are able to turn enough that they wheels end up pointing in different directions I would first check the suspension components as that sounds like a component is broken. I'd look at the leaf springs, equalizers, and shackles closely.
Now with that said the X-factor crossmembers like the part # MR33WR will do a great job bracing up suspension that is in good working order and would work hard to prevent the forces that would normally want to unalign trailer axles.

Thanks Jameson, The suspension is in very good condition. I even had the CRE3000 replaced and new wetbolts last brake job. I'll look for some help installing the X factor crossmembers.
