Tom, yes your tank needs to be empty before using the Dometic 3-in-1 RV Toilet Bowl Cleaner and Black Water Tank Treatment Packs # DOM82FR and will last about a week, but it depends on other variables. Like the amount of waste you expect this to handle, how big the holding tank is, how well the system is maintained, and if the proper paper products are used.
