Dexter BrakeRite or HydraPro Brake Actuator for Trailer with Disc Brakes
Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/16/2024 >
Question:
Hi, Im trying to decide between the Dexter BrakeRite and the Hydrapro brake actuators for a disk brake install on my Grand Design 337RLS. The BrakeRite has been around longer, but the Hydrapro specs suggest it reacts faster. I want the better product between the two. Its not a price question. Which do you prefer and why please?

Hey Michael, so I would go with the Hydrapro Alpha part # DH44FR as it is the fastest reacting. The Dexter has been around quite a bit of time and while it is a solid option it's not the favorite around here among the options that have been around a while as it's not the quickest reacting or even the most reliable. It could be because it's been super popular but of all of the actuators it's the one we see the most troubleshooting questions of.

Hey Michael, how did the Hydrapro Alpha end up working with your Grand Design 337RLS? It’d be great to hear if the faster response made a noticeable difference with your disc brakes. Your update could make it easier for others choosing between these two actuators.
