Do the Bolts for the Cross Support Weldment On the Curt A30 Need to be Oriented In a Specific Way

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/14/2024

Question:

The cross weld assembly that mounts into the truck bed uses two larger bolts and nuts and two smaller. What position should they be installed in? For instance should the two larger bolts be installed in the two positions closer to the tailgate or closer to the cab?

Hey Jim, I checked out the instructions for the Curt A30 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for RAM Towing Prep Package # C64BR and I'm not seeing any specification for orientation on those bolts.

It also looks like those bolts are the same M14 x 75 bolts, so I'd make sure you're using the correct hardware.

Hey Jim, were you able to confirm the correct hardware for the cross weld assembly on your Curt A30 hitch? Knowing what worked could help others sorting out the same bolt setup.
