Question:

Hi...can I safely use a 16ga wiring harness for a trailer and connect it to the lights which have 18ga. coming out of them. It is a basic 4 prong set up with 2 lights in the back and 2 running lights. It is a rewire job on a older easy loader boat trailer...thank you in advance for your response. Derwin

Hello Derwin. Yes, you can safely use a 16 gauge wire harness for connecting lights that have 18 gauge wire on the back. A lot of trailers use 16 gauge wire for basic LED or incandescent trailer lighting so this is a common practice.

Hey Derwin, how did the rewire job on your Easy Loader trailer turn out using the 16-gauge harness? Your results could really help others working on similar trailer lighting setups.

@JesseM It went very well...took my time and did it right. Dedicated ground to all the lights and and also to trailer frame.
