Question:

Can a Yakima roof top basket quick clamps clamp on to the lock n load platform? If so, is it a direct fit or is something else needed?

Hello Jason. The Yakima LockNLoad Platform has T-slots which can be used for mounting certain accessories, but it will not work with clamp on accessories like a roof basket or cargo box. If you want to be able to use both a Platform and a roof basket, the best option will be to install a roof rack with crossbars, then use a clamp-on LockNLoad Platform like part # Y05044-39. Then when you need to use the cargo basket you can remove the platform and install a basket like the Yakima OffGrid # Y07138-08 on the crossbars.

That or you could simply add a Rail Kit, part # Y05055 to the # Y05044-39 platform. The rail kit makes the platform into more of a basket so you get the best of both worlds.

Hey Jason, how did things go with the LockNLoad platform setup? Did you end up adding the rail kit or going with the OffGrid basket for extra cargo space? Your update could make it easier for others choosing between those options.
