Hey Russell,

Getting all the correct parts needed for flat towing can definitely be confusing, so I'll go ahead and put together a list for what you need to do so for your 2012 Chevy Traverse. I'll list them out below, and all the prices can be seen either on the product pages or by scrolling down where they'll all be listed.

- Base Plate Kit: EZ Crossbar Style Base Plate Kit # 523149-1
- Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plates # e44ZR
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch # RM-76517
Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch # RM76511
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251
- Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Wire Kit for Demco Supplemental Braking Systems # DM66VR

The Roadmaster base plates are great because they have removable arms to help your Traverse maintain its clean look when you aren't flat towing it. The SD tow bar will work with these base plates, and has long arms which allow your Chevy to more easily make tight turns, and it also comes with safety cables so you don't have to purchase those separately.

The diode wiring kit will prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Chevy's electrical system safe, and the fuse bypass switches are needed because your Traverse requires pulling fuses when being towed.

As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is easily the best because it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Traverse is going to get the same amount of braking power, resulting in much smoother braking than other systems. Finally, the battery charge line will keep your battery charged at all times, even on long journeys.

Hey Russell, how did your flat tow setup for the Chevy Traverse come together with the parts I listed? I'm curious if the Stay-IN-Play Duo braking system gave you the smooth braking you were looking for. Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar setup.
