Can Bike Rack be Used with Class I Curt Hitch

Hello, I was looking at a bike platform carrier, but the manufacturer stated they dont recommend using a class 1 hitch. Many of the platform-based bike carriers on your website State they are class 2, are those compatible with this or it going to rip off the car eventually.
