Question:
I am trying to determine the dimension shown by the Red line in the attached photo. That is, distance between bottom edge of Shank where it enters the receiver, and lowest point of shank that points to the ground. My problem is that due to a very severe dip at the bottom of my driveway, the clearance between the bottom of the hitch and the ground is pretty tight, when going through that dip, even though I have plenty of clearance on level ground. I cannot seem to find drawings anywhere that help. The 2 hitches that I am most interested in, are the Fastway Adjustable Steel HD 49-00-5625, and the BandW Stow and Go TS20037B. Both options are for a 2.5 inch receiver. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

The measurement you're looking for on the Flash Strong Solid Steel 2-Ball Mount # FA49-00-5625 is 6-3/4" and on the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS20037B it is 5-1/2". You're going to have more clearance on the B&W but that is also due to the fact that it has less of a drop at 5" vs. 7" from the Fastway.
If the B&W meets your needs then that would be the way to go. I also recommend using the # 34061775-D to keep it secure. I don't have a way to tell if this would clear on your drive or not without testing it but I'd say this is about as good as it gets for an adjustable ball mount. You could continue to gain clearance by reducing the rise/drop but it would lose it's value for towing.
