Question:
I need a full towing package for a Jeep Liberty 2001 being towed by a Class A RV. I need the base plate, tow bar wiring harness, and a manual breaking system. Im getting a little overwhelmed trying to piece together all the components not knowing if they are compatible with each other etc.. And help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lenny; I would be happy to help you put this together. Since you entered 2011 in our fitguide and the Jeep Liberty wasn't made until 2002 I'll base the answer off of a 2011. If that is incorrect please let me know and I can update the answer as needed. To flat tow your Liberty you will need a tow bar, base plate, safety cables, wiring, and a supplemental braking system. I recommend the following:
-Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX1976
-Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7420 (comes with safety cables)
-Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
-Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Flat Tow Brake System # RM-766
-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251
OR
-Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # SM99243
The braking systems are proportional, not manual. This means the brakes will be applied to match the deceleration of your RV for smooth braking. One is for hydraulic brakes and the other is for air brakes so you will need to choose the correct one based on your RV.
More than likely you will also need a high-low adapter. I have attached an article below which covers how to measure and choose the correct one for your setup that includes a link to all of our available high-low adapters. I also attached installation videos below for your reference.

I would prefer not to cut into my existing brake system so I would rather a patriot braking system. Also I understand that sometimes the towed vehicle will end up with a dead battery from the lights being used. Is that the case with the diode system? Is there a charging system I should have?
