Replacement Locking Mechanism for the Sears Sport 15-CAV Cargo Box

Question:

Hello, I have an older cargo box made by Sears. The whole lock system is broken and im looking to replace the entire thing. I will also need the key for this lock as well. What would be the best part to replace with? Thanks

I spoke to my contact at Thule and she told me that there were a couple different generations of the Sears Sport 15-CAV and they have replacement lock hardware that would work for one of the generations, but without knowing what generation you have it would be hard to say if it would work for you.

The Replacement Locks and Keys part # SR03807 is the replacement lock that will work on one of the generations. You might compare the product pictures to the locks you removed from your box to see if they look like the correct replacement.

My son didn't tell me about the lock on the case. MY QUESTION IS COULD ? I BUST OPEN THE LOCK ON THE CASE WITHOUT DAMAGING THE CASE ???
