Best Option For a Lightweight Weight Distribution System For a 7K Trailer With 800LBS Tongue Weight

Updated 04/20/2024 | Published 04/19/2024

Question:

I need to find a WD hitch for my travel trailer that isnt so heavy. I currently have a Husky that is 100 lbs. including the shank. I have hurt my back several times lifting this thing. What is a lighter option that still includes sway control. Trailer GVWR is 7000 lbs and tongue weight about 800.

While the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW1000 is going to be one of our lightest systems at 91lbs I don't think this is really what you are going to want to use. The Curt TruTrack 2P Trailer Mounted Weight Distribution System # C67ZV is going to be easier for you to put on and take off. The hitch head is separate from the drop shank which means while the overall system is heavier at 124lbs the separate parts will make it easier for you to put on and take off. The Curt is rated for trailers up to 10,000lbs with a tongue weight of 800-1,000lbs.
