The Curt hitch ball # C40007 has a 1" diameter shank. Curt Hitch balls with a 1" shank will use a 1-1/2" wrench for the nut. You would also want to use a 2" wrench for the flats on the base of the ball. We offer the 6-point hex wrench # C20001 which can be used for hitch balls with either a 1" diameter or 3/4" diameter shank.
