Question:
I am looking to add a trailer hitch to my 2005 Honda Pilot Ex-L. 1. What is the difference between regular ? hitch and the hidden hitch. 2. Dont I need a wiring pkg to run brake lights on a trailer? What is involved in that? 3. I have read about needing to re-tap threaded bolt holes. Where do I get a tap? Thank you.

There are three different 2-inch Class III hitches offered for your 2005 Honda Pilot EX; all can be seen on the link provided. All are square-tube designs that share the same 350-lb tongue weight and 3500-lb towing capacity; all install without drilling using included hardware; and all will work with a full-size spare tire.
Since there is no significant difference in the three designs I suggest the most cost-effective option, # 75599 from Draw-Tite. I have linked both the written installation instructions and an install video for this hitch. I have also included several articles concerning hitch installation tips and towing basics. You will not need to tap the weld nuts for installation but a thorough cleaning of the threads is suggested. A linked article explains.
For trailer wiring we offer a no-splicing option from Tow Ready, their harness # 118336. I have included an installation video for this custom-fit plug-in wiring harness.
A great towing accessory to finish your set-up is the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which includes two ball mounts, two hitch balls (1-7/8-inch and 2-inch) as well as a pin and clip.
