Question:

Changing leaf springs on dexter 2200lb axel dex 3150240 sn 271007580. Is Item # 072-017-00 a compatible replacement.

The Dexter Double Eye Leaf Spring # 072-017-00 you mentioned is intended to be used with a 2,000 lb axle. It can be a suitable replacement for your 2,200 lb axle, as long as the gross trailer weight does not exceed 2,000 lbs. You will also want to make sure the replacement spring is identical in length to the current spring. There is no way for us to know the length of the current springs based on an axle number or VIN.

The best thing to do is to jack up the trailer and measure the eye-to-eye length of the current springs when not under a load. If they are 20-1/4" long eye-to-eye, then the # 072-017-00 will be a suitable replacement. If you come up with a different length, feel free to send me your findings and I am happy to make a recommendation.
