Can A 25-1/4" Leaf Spring Be Replaced With A 26" Leaf Spring?

Question:

Help, I put 26 leaf springs on my tandem axle trailer. I think they should have been 25 1/4. I only have about 1/2 of clearance between the shackle and the mounting block?

Hello Mark, thanks for reaching out. When replacing leaf springs, it is important the new springs are identical in length to the old ones. There is a small amount of tolerance, like 1/2" or less, but any more than this can throw the suspension off center like you are describing. It sounds like the 2" springs are just too long for your trailer and will need to be replaced.

I see that you ordered the # e22YR springs which are for a 4,000 lb axle. We do offer a 25-1/4" spring for a 4,000 lb axle, part # e57SR so that is what I recommend going with.
