Hey Craig, thanks for reaching out!

The Yakima SmarT-Slot Mounting Kit # Y25AV is only compatible with the newer Yakima roof cargo boxes so you unfortunately won't be able to utilize it with the older RocketBox design.

If you're needing to replace the mounting clamp for your older RocketBox then the SkyBox Replacement Mounting Clamp # Y62XR will actually work, according to Yakima.

Other than that we're looking at getting you a whole new box. If this is the case just let me know what size box you currently have and I'll be more than happy to make a recommendation for you!

it is a huge bummer that the older skyboxes do not fit the Rivian crossbars which are ironically made by Yakima. i was hoping to mod it using the SmarT-Slot but it may not be a good idea. your thoughts?

@EdC To be fair, the newer Yakima boxes will work with them when used with the adapter, but I definitely understand where you're coming from. The SmarT-Slot Mounting Kit # Y25AV isn't compatible with the older style of mounting. If you want to try to mod it you can, but I don't have any insight into it so you'd be on your own for that mod.
